Test Drive #8: Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun
If you're like me, you do your best to avoid excessive sun exposure because it simply isn’t healthy. The downsides of sun tanning are well documented, so I try to cover up and limit my time in the sun.
That said, there’s something nice about having a little bit of colour during the summer months. After a long winter, my legs are startlingly white.
Over the years, I've found that Jergens Natural Glow Instant Sun Sunless Tanning Mousse works extremely well. It’s very easy to apply, reasonably priced, and it delivers a natural-looking result.
Why I Like This Sunless Tanner
What I appreciate most is how simple it is to use. I can apply it in just a few minutes without an expensive tanning mitt or complicated steps.
I simply squirt a bit of mousse into my hand and smooth it onto my legs. It blends easily, dries quickly, and creates a streak-free bronze colour that looks natural on my fair skin.
I also like that I can choose the shade. I use the Deep Bronze version. Not because I want a dark tan, but because a single light application gives me the subtle colour I'm looking for.
Perhaps best of all is the price: it is $16.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart, and $12.22 at Walmart and Amazon. In comparison, Sephora sells a St. Tropez self-tanner for $30.75 and one by Clarins for $39.
Pros
Very easy to apply with just your hand; no application mitt required
Natural-looking, streak-free finish
Quick drying time (about 60 seconds)
Does not transfer to clothing once dry
More affordable than higher-end brands
Bottle lasts me multiple seasons
Does not have the strong unpleasant scent of many other self-tanners
No special preparation, such as exfoliating, required
Cons
You need to wash your hands immediately after application
May stain clothes or bathroom surfaces before it dries
Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
