It’s hard to believe, but 2026 will be the 5th year of our Sea, Sand & Soul fitness retreat on the stunning shores of Prince Edward Island!

Over the past months, my retreat colleague Nina LePage and I have explored potential new locations—Costa Rica, Ontario, Newfoundland, Quebec—wondering what a fresh setting might offer. Some of you have told us you’d love to return (shoutout to Maureen L., who’s joined all 4 retreats!) while also being curious about something new.

But after much research, we kept coming back to the same conclusion: nothing compares to Shaw’s Hotel in Brackley Beach, PEI. The cottages, meals, staff, sunrises, sunsets, and peaceful setting in PEI National Park just feel like home.

In addition to its unbeatable charm, we’ve also noticed increasing requests for single rooms, and Shaw’s remains one of the few venues that offers both a natural Nordic walking- and yoga-friendly setting with plenty of single rooms at a reasonable price.

And speaking of value, here’s something special: Even though prices are rising everywhere, our 2026 retreat prices will be the same as 2025.

Morning

7:30 beach stroll, beachcombing, ocean swim or morning stretch

10:30 Nordic walk

Afternoon

4:00 chill time, cycle, beach activity or restorative yoga

Evening

6:00 dinner (guest speaker)

7:30 bonfire, lantern walk, fun & games, local ceilidh, etc.

    A spacious room with two beds (queen or single) with a large bathroom, kitchen & living room with a deck overlooking Brackley Bay.

    Coming solo? We will do our best to pair you with another solo retreat guest.

    A spacious private room with a queen bed, large bathroom, kitchen & living room with a deck overlooking Brackley Bay.

  • This retreat is ideal for you if you

    • are age 50 to 70ish

    • are in good health

    • have an easy-going and flexible approach to life

    • are a regular exerciser and have good stamina

    • know how to Nordic walk, practise yoga or are keen to learn

    • are able to Nordic walk/walk continuously and at a moderate pace for at least one hour

    • are comfortable cycling at a moderate pace on a car-free trail for a total of one hour or two hours (if you plan on cycling at this retreat)

    • love the outdoors

    • love meeting new people and making new friends

    • enjoy a wide variety of foods (though the chef can easily address vegetarian diets, food allergies and food sensitivities)

  • Barb Gormley is a master trainer for Urban Poling Inc., a personal trainer , group exercise instructor. and 200-hour yoga teacher. She is the author of “The Urban Poling Ultimate Guide to Nordic Walking,” & “The Urban Poling Ultimate Guide to Nordic Walking For Instructors.”

    Nina LePage is a longtime personal trainer, a group exercise instructor, & master trainer for Urban Poling Inc. She is a Hatha Yoga teacher, holistic nutrition educator & Heart Wise fitness instructor. She teaches on Zoom, at local community centres, senior centres & at Ottawa’s Rideau Sports Club.ription text goes here

  • Many retreats focus solely on yoga, focus on relaxing, offer a large amount of free time and just two or three organized classes per day.

    Some retreats require participants to contact the hotel to organize their own accommodation and meals.

    Our goal is more about energizing than relaxing. We offer a full day of activities! Sessions of course aren’t mandatory, but we find people rarely skip a session (well maybe the extra-early morning ocean swim, though many come to walk and enjoy the beach instead).


    We don’t jampack the schedule or rush from activity to activity. But we want you to be outdoors as much as possible, learn ing new skills and information, meeting local people, making new friends, and getting a good feel for the province of PEI.

    We also organize and include all your accommodation and meals (except one lunch).scription

  • Simply grab a taxi at the airport for the quick and picturesque 20-minute ride.

  • Nordic walking poles, yoga mats & bike helmets are all supplied. We provide a general packing list at a later date.

  • About 50/50. Each year’s group has been super friendly, and we have all gone home with new friends.
