Would You Like to Join a Yonge/Lawrence Walking Group?

Do you enjoy walking in the Yonge and Lawrence neighbourhood? Interested in the idea of having some company, meeting new people, and getting a little more out of your walks?

I'm exploring the idea of starting a weekly, instructor-led walking group in the neighbourhood and would love to hear from anyone who might be interested.

This idea was sparked by a local resident who thinks it would be fun and worthwhile to bring some of the neighbourhood’s regular walkers together.

  • When: One weekday morning, day to be determined

  • Where: Meet in the Yonge and Lawrence area, exact location to be determined

  • Duration: 45 to 60 minutes

  • Routes: Quiet neighbourhood streets and local parks, away from busy roads and traffic, with a different route each week

These would be purposeful walks. Think more than a leisurely stroll, but not a huffing-and-puffing power walk. Each session would include a short warm-up, a few stops along the way for some simple balance and strength exercises, and some cooldown stretches at the end.

Who is this group ideal for? This group is ideal for people who enjoy walking but would appreciate a little structure, some friendly company, and a few simple exercises to make their walking time even more worthwhile. Having a regular time and friendly group to join can be a great way to stay motivated and exercise more consistently.

Participants must be able to walk for 60 minutes, without a walking aid, at a moderate to brisk pace

Start date: Ideally, in November, resuming in the New Year  or spring if there's interest.

Cost: To be determined, depending on the number of weeks of the session
