You’re in Good Hands
Hi there!
I’m Barb Gormley, a Toronto-based Nordic walking expert and certified personal trainer with a degree in Physical Education & Health.
I’ve been teaching Nordic walking since 2008, and I still get a thrill when people light up after mastering the technique and feeling that satisfying forward propulsion.
I’m a Master Trainer with Urban Poling, Canada’s leading Nordic walking company. I teach everyone from complete beginners to experienced Nordic walkers, and I also train and certify Nordic walking instructors.
With all this experience, I know the small details that can make a big difference in how easily and effectively you learn. My goal is to help you feel confident with your poles and excited to get outside and Nordic walk.
I’ll show you how to get a real workout
I see too many people using their poles incorrectly and then wondering why Nordic walking doesn’t feel like much of a workout. Good technique makes all the difference. I’ll show you how to use your poles properly so you can get the full-body workout Nordic walking has to offer.
From beginners to instructors
My weekly Nordic walking classes in Toronto’s Mount Pleasant Cemetery and High Park have been running since 2008. I also offer private and semi-private sessions and small-group Quick-Start Clinics.
I wrote the books on it. Literally.
I’m the author of The Urban Poling Ultimate Guide to Nordic Walking and The Urban Poling Ultimate Guide to Nordic Walking for Instructors.
Why I love Nordic walking
For me, Nordic walking isn’t just about exercise. It’s about connecting with nature, feeling good in your body, and enjoying the experience of walking with other people.
You don’t have to be “fit” to start
Whether you’re looking for a new way to be active, improve your fitness, or simply spend more time outdoors, I can help you get started with confidence.
