“Barb, today's class was SUPER FABULOUS! You are a fun bubble of energy, great motivator & cuer, with creative yet simple moves. I think combining the poles with footwork was brilliant....I felt engaged like I was in the class with you in person and was surprised at how fast the time went!”

Cardio, Weights & Poles

Have you noticed? When the outdoor temperature takes a turn for the worse, our fitness levels often do as well. Too hot, too cold, too humid, too rainy, too icy, too windy… There’s a plethora of sensible reasons for staying indoors.

But there’s no need to miss your workout! Grab your poles and join some fellow Nordic walkers from across the country and beyond for an indoor workout with poles set to music.

Class time doesn’t work for you? I’ve got you covered: a recording of the live class arrives the same day so you can fit it anywhere into your schedule.

Here are all the details:

CLASS DESCRIPTION

  • Energizing moves combined with basic, non-intimidating choreography set to popular upbeat music. Ideal for people with a moderate fitness level who would like to improve their strength, coordination, posture, and balance.

  • Lots of exercise options are provided throughout the class.

  • It is not necessary to know how to Nordic walk for this class! The poles are used for balance, and upper body and core strength. For approximately half of the class the poles are used vertically; for half they are held horizontally.

  • Class includes: a warm-up; low-impact cardio; standing muscle conditioning with light weights; balance exercises; and a cooldown stretch…all performed with Nordic walking poles. (See video sample, to the left, for a quick taste of the energy and pace.)

  • A recording of the class arrives later the same day (and stays live for one week) in case you missed it or want to repeat it (as many times as you like)!

    SCHEDULE

  • Spring Session 2024 (12 classes: 9 classes/recordings + 3 recorded classes): April 8 - June 24 (Starting late? Contact me for a pro-rated rate.) Joining the session late? See Cost section below.

  • Day & time: Mondays, 12:00-12:35pm EST

  • WHAT YOU NEED

  • Nordic walking poles; comfortable clothes & shoes; some indoor space (about 8’ x 8’); light dumbbells (perhaps 3, 4 or 5 lb. each), soup cans or partially-filled water bottles; and water.

COST

  • Winter Session: $149.16 (includes HST). (Starting late? Contact me for a pro-rated rate.) Starting January 29? Cost is $111.87 (includes HST).

Miss a class? Time not convenient? No worries. I send out a recording of the class, which you can access for seven days, each Tuesday morning. (FYI, approximately 50 percent of the class do not attend the live class and use the recording instead.)

  • Not sure if this is the right class for you? Please contact me and attend your first class free.

ZOOM TIPS

  • To see me as a large image on your screen, once the class starts click on SPEAKER View (not Gallery View).

  • Elevate your device/screen so it is closer to eye level, if possible, for easier viewing and better posture.

  • If you are using a laptop and have WIFI connectivity issues, try directly connecting to your router with an ethernet cable (about $25).

Hope you can join us. Would love to see you in class!
